Happy National Nonprofit Day! Join us today in celebrating the incredible people working hard daily to transform lives in our communities.
Today, August 17, is National Nonprofit Day. We recognize this day to remind ourselves that the transformations we see happening in peoples’ lives in our communities, and all over the world, are facilitated and performed by nonprofits everywhere, the hardworking and diligent men and women who work in them, the volunteers who dedicate their time, and the generous donors who keep the lights on. Today is a day to recognize the work being done, the outcomes achieved, and the positive impact nonprofits have on our communities as a whole.
No one achieves anything alone. Volunteers of America Southwest is just one corporation of the national organization, Volunteers of America. In nearly every state, Volunteers of America makes a difference in the lives of children, families, seniors, veterans, people struggling with mental and behavioral health issues, drug and alcohol addiction, and so much more. Chances are you know someone who has a connection to Volunteers of America somehow.
To mark National Nonprofit Day, we’re encouraging you to seek out a nonprofit that makes a difference in something you care about. Whether it’s us, or someone else, take the time to learn about their mission, the work they do, and how you can help. When we all pitch in, we can do incredible things.
Finally, we want to say thank you to the courageous and steadfast men and women who work every day in our centers. To all of the staff of our Early Head Start centers, preschools, charter elementary schools, behavioral health treatment centers, addiction recovery programs, low income and senior housing complexes, veterans’ assistance programs, and corporate offices, thank you for showing up every day and positively impacting the lives of those around you. You make us who we are.
